July 2024

Definitions

100% Canadian wool - fibre from sheep that has been grown on Canadian farms.

Traceable - whereby the entire life cycle of a wool product can be tracked from growing to production to purchase.

Product category - individual products that share common characteristics (e.g. apparel cloth, bedding, knitting yarn, sheepskins).

Partners - sheep producers, wool mill owners/processors or consumer goods producers that have completed the Canadian Wool Collective application for certification and had their business verified to meet eligibility criteria for the Certification Program.

INTRODUCTION

The Canadian Wool Collective Certification Program (CWCCP) for 100% Canadian wool certifies that your products are made with 100% Canadian wool in Canada. A traceable wool product will allow your customers to know they are purchasing true domestic products, from raw materials to finished goods.

Criteria: What products can be sold with the 100% Canadian wool logo?

100% Canadian wool products are those that are made with a majority 100% Canadian grown and produced wool. Such products may also include cotton or linen such as wool pillows with cotton or linen pillow cases, knitwear with notions such as buttons or zippers, or woven textiles with cotton or linen warp strings.

Canadian Wool Logos and Images

The Canadian Wool Collective (CWC) logo and branding can only be used by certified businesses and farms for those specific products that meet the criteria for 100% Canadian wool. Certified  products will be identified by the addition of the CWC logo either added to existing branding or as a secondary label.

The CWC logo is intended to be as easily recognizable as it is for our certified partners to use. Certified partners may only use the files included in the partnership package once certification has been approved and may only use the files to create labels, stickers, hang tags for products that are 100% Canadian wool.

Please see the following guidance for branding and logo licensing:

Using the Logo: Your License

The Canadian Wool Collective (CWC) logo can only be used by certified partners that have been certified by the CWC on products that meet the definition of 100% Canadian wool. As a grassroots organization dedicated to increasing the profile of Canadian wool and building a supportive pan-Canadian community to develop a circular Canadian wool economy, we trust our partners to apply the logo properly to their products. If you have any doubts about how to use the logo, please get in touch with us by e-mail at certification@canadianwool.org

The logo cannot be used on  products that do not meet the definition of 100% Canadian wool, and have not been included in the application product or product categories.

The CWC logo should not be larger than other logos used, or be separated or highlighted to appear as if it is your logo.
